Originally founded in 1919, motorcycle manufacturer Francis-Barnett is back with new models which are being individually hand built in the midlands to customers own specifications. Their bikes are built with the vintage styling, but are very much in the 21st century.

Francis (images 1-2): Paying homage to all the great designs of the late sixties and seventies, these bikes are beautifully built. They may look like they are from another time, but they are packed with modern features. Such as Siemens fuel injection that delivers reliable performance and economy. They have been nurtured in their hometown of Coventry, where they have been beautifully painted and fitted with a handmade exhaust. Powered by a 398cc air-cooled, 4 valve engine, which delivers 29bhp @7000 rpm.

Falcon (images 3-4): The new Falcon has been built along the classic style of the original bikes of the 50s and 60s. It ahs been brought up to date with an electric start and 18" rear wheel with 21" front, with stainless steel spokes, alloy or chrome rims with Dunlop tyres, made with competition adjustable shock absorbers. It also includes a handmade upswept exhaust which is free flowing to improve performance and a Wassell seat. The mudguards are highly polished alloy, although they could be upgraded to stainless steel, with a rubber mounted backlight. The Falcon is offered in a classic green or stylish silver.

Merlin (images 5-6): The new Merlin trials bike, like the Falcon, has also been built along the classic style of the original bikes of the 50s and 60s. It has been brought up to date with an electric start and 18" rear wheel with 21" front, with stainless steel spokes, alloy or chrome rims with Dunlop tyres, made with competition adjustable shock absorbers. It also includes a handmade upswept exhaust which is free flowing to improve performance and a Wassell seat. Because these bikes are individually built the specification can be changed to the customer's requirements. The new Merlin has come about with approval from Sinnis using their 'Retrostar 125' model, which has received great reviews as a base for the motorcycle. The Sinnis uses a version of the bullet-proof Suzuki GN 125, made by a Suzuki partner and which has been tried and tested for many years.

Kestrel (images 7-8): The new Kestrel has been built with the classic 50s/60s style of the Francis-Barnett bikes of that era, but with an electric start and indicators to bring it up to date. 18" front and rear wheels are used with stainless steel spokes, Dunlop K70 tyres with alloy or chrome rims and classic style adjustable rear shock absorbers. It also includes a British-made free flowing Triumph style to give added performance, and a handmade seat. Because these bikes are individually built these specifications could be changed to suit customer requirements. The new Merlin has come about with approval from Sinnis using their 'Retrostar 125' model, which has received great reviews as a base for the motorcycle.
